Job Overview
The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing activities for Ocean Oilfield Drilling services, ensuring cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead & execute Procurement Strategies in collaboration with department heads including Legal and Compliance.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Project, QA/QC to understand material specifications and delivery timelines.
- Review cost, quality and delivery analysis and recommend best practices and terms & conditions.
- Source and evaluate suppliers for materials, consumables and services.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and long-term agreements.
- Drive cost efficiencies across procurement and delivery processes.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of the Procurement & Purchase department and track KPIs.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance for team members.
- Ensure standardization of processes and SOPs.
- Create initiatives to leverage market opportunities and reduce risks.
- Coordinate with management to align procurement efforts.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards.
- Maintain purchase order tracking through ERP systems.
- Lead cost reduction and alternative sourcing initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5-10 years of experience in procurement related to Shipyard / Oil Rig Maintenance Projects.
- Technical knowledge of oil rig processes, machinery, materials, and spare parts.
- Ability to source materials and equipment locally and globally.
